The Cooper Union, 2022-2023

This thesis questions the relationship between my experience of the urban environment and the Sublime. The resulting maps evoke a variety of atmospheres, from technical representations of climbing routes to abstract portrayals of my personal encounters navigating these landscapes. Alongside these mappings of the natural environment, a series of urban drawings question the similarities between seemingly different environments. Through analyzing the spatial and formal relationships between these environments I aspire to share a sublime experience of the city. Ultimately, this body of work aims to transcend the conceptual boundaries between natural and built landscapes.
